Spawn quality is highly important when you want to grow mushrooms because it will affect your entire mushroom production. There's a difference in what concerns spawn, and there's details that you have to know in order to ensure proper mushroom production. Freshness is one of them another one is the grain type on which is grown. Also spawn has a storage limit and this greatly depends on mushroom strain.
The spawn making process and the technique used to produce it, including the equipment that you'll use to make it as a whole will greatly matter and influence the yield of your future mushroom production line.
Many beginner growers out there are making their own spawn which is great; however, some of them get bacterial or moldy spawn in up to 50% of their bags. And then I wonder: where did they learned how to make spawn
